Hi, I've been having some trouble with my Maytag dryer, model MDGT446AWW. Every time I start it, it stops after just 10 seconds.
It's about 16 years old, and there are no error codes or messages showing up. About 2 1/2 weeks ago, I replaced the hi-temp fuse as recommended by a Sears parts person, but that didn't fix the issue. So, they suggested replacing the motor, which I'm currently trying to do.
I'm having trouble removing the blower fan from the shaft. Unlike most videos I found, mine is screwed onto the shaft instead of having spring clips. Can you guide me on how to remove it so I can proceed with the motor replacement?
You'll need a 7/8 inch 6-point socket on a ratchet to turn the blower wheel while holding the shaft with channel locks. It might be tough to get it loose. There's a video you can watch to see the process:
But I can tell you that will not fix the problem you are having. The issue you are having is caused by the control board. The part you need to replace is linked below:
I managed to get the blower wheel off and the new motor installed but you were right that did not fix it. So I ordered and installed the control board you suggested and the dryer is working now. Thank you!
