How To Fix Maytag Maxima XL Washer F09E01 Error

Maytag Maxima XL Washer F09E01 Error

The Maytag Maxima XL Washer F09E01 Error  indicates a drainage issue. Unfortunately, these washers are not the easiest to troubleshoot and fix due to their complex design.

The problem lies in the drain catch inside the washer, which needs to be accessed and cleaned to resolve this error. However, reaching this component is quite challenging. The top panel, control panel, and the entire front panel must be removed to access the pump located beneath the tub.

This design is far from user-friendly and requires a significant amount of work to clear the drain. Unless you’re particularly handy, it may not be a task you wish to undertake yourself.

To reach the drain pump, begin by moving the washer forward and disconnecting it from the power source. Remove the dispenser drawer entirely, followed by the two bolts at the back of the top panel. This panel should then slide back, up, and off.

Next, remove the screws from the dispenser opening and those inside the washer that secure the control panel. This panel can then be lifted up and out of the way.

You’ll then need to remove a few screws across the top of the front panel. Tilt the washer back slightly to access and remove two screws in the bottom right and left corners.

Open the door to disconnect the rubber door gasket. A wire ring secures this gasket to the front lip, which can be removed using a flat head screwdriver.

With the front panel removed, you can now access the drain pump located under the drum and attached to the floor-mounted drain pump.

Directly under the tub, mounted to the floor, you’ll find a 3″ diameter plastic twist cap. This is your drain cap. Unscrew it to clear any debris inside the drain catch.

If the drain catch and hose are clear and you’re still experiencing the Maytag Maxima XL Washer F09E01 error, it may be time to replace your drain pump.

Remember, the Maytag Maxima XL Washer’s F09 E01 error signifies a drainage problem. While it’s not the easiest to fix, with the right tools and a bit of patience, it’s certainly manageable.
